The best 61 teams nationwide in Malaysia are ready for competition on the 18th Malaysia National Lion Dance championship at the Arena of Stars on 2-3 December 2017. At the press conference today, draw of lots to determine the flow of the competition. The team allocations are divided into 4 regions that includes 19 teams from the East Malaysia, 16 teams from central region , 12 teams from southern regions and 14 teams from the northern regions.
The press conference was also attended by Leong Lin Thong, Chairman of Federation of Selangor & Federal Territory Dragon & Lion Dance Association and his committee members. Mr Leong also mentioned that the competition is not just a show but one that “Test the endurance and creativity of each individual and team”
According to Mr Kevin Tann, the Vice President of Promotion & Entertainment of Resort World Genting ” The event has proved to be inspirational, attracting to the young people to the sport”.
The event has created excitement locally and overseas. It is also a flagship event of Resorts World Genting, the competition started back in 1983 and is continuously held once every 2 years. The World Lion Dance Champion will represent the country in the Genting World Lion Dance Championship next year.
